Oregon is known for many things – the beautiful area, lush forest, and gorgeous coastline, our liberal lifestyle, and great food, but there are a lot of hidden gems the locals of Portland, Oregon like to keep to themselves. Where is the best place to get all, you can eat refills of blueberry pancakes every Tuesday morning?

Where is the most outrageous dance club where everyone knows everyone, but few will admit it? Where is the best visual reality studio? When your house needs a complete overhaul due to all the messes that have accumulated over the winter months, who is the best residential cleaner Hamilton ON to call? Having the inside track takes time and eludes the weekend visitor. Knowing your community like a local can’t be beat – it makes home a home.

Have you ever gone 60 miles an hour in a dune buggy? Do you wanna? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, then make your way to the Oregon Dunes at Sand Dunes Frontier just outside of Portland. Stretching 56 miles along the Oregon Pacific West coast there is no other place like this on earth.

I was there visiting with my friend who owns a 24 Hr Tow Service Wichita KS and he knows all about the dunes. If you want to experience something out of the ordinary like the people I witnessed coming off a wedding party bus last weekend, then this area is sure to give you that, and more. I saw approximately twenty people departing a bus, led by the bride and groom and they all headed towards a line-up of dune buggies.

The bride still wearing her white veil and the groom wearing a black bow tie, each commandeered their own buggy – one white and one black. It was a perfect way to celebrate as one by one each buggy reared their engines and sped off to “just dune it”.

Every year, each month holds a special attraction for visitors and December is no exception. Our downtown Christmas Tree – which almost required a 24 hour accident recovery Buffalo NY to get all 42 feet of it upright and standing tall, was lit at the end of November to the delight of a record number of admirers. That was just the beginning of this very festive Season in Portland.

Resistance is Futile

Winter is here folks, and there is no denying it after the storm that just hit us. It seems like the colder weather moves in earlier and earlier every year, but it might be that I’m just feeling it more as I get older and older every year. How about that?

With the roads being snow packed and icy, it’s always a joy to get in the car and head out to places near and far. . . Not. Despite the wonderful public transportation system, most of us cling to our cars like a child to a pacifier. With my recent driveway resurfacing, I thought the long, narrow entrance to my little cabin would be easier to navigate once the snow fell. In fact, it is, but it’s still a pain in the backside having to plow and shovel.
